how to change the group gid of my program?

the extsd of my device is lock for write and unlock for read.
At the forum of the device they suggest that at platform.xml file to add the
<group gid="media_rw"/>
BUT
the file is locked as read only and no file manager / explorer can change the permissions So I can add the command
So
if I change the program to belong at this group Is a solution?

You can only change it on rooted devices.
