Please, please, please if possible can we have some way of confirming whether or not an SMS message is sent successfully?

An error should be raised if the sms was not delivered successfully.

Are you talking about "send successfully" or "delivered"?

If I'm right older Nokia phones had the capability to see if the message was received by the mobile not only send to the network.

I was more interested that it had been sent to the network.
If it gets that far then hopefully it should find the recipient.
My biggest concern was covering the occasions when trying to send a message with no signal present.
