Default Samsung Galaxy Note

Now this looks like an interesting phone/tablet from Samsung. With 5.3" display it sits nicely between current smart phones and smaller tablets (like the Galaxy Tab 7")

Also, the stylus pen (S Pen) is a nice addition. Whilst HTC Flyer featured a stylus pen the implementation was somewhat flawed. You needed to use your finger for certain GUI options and the stylus for everything else

Nice to see an 8MP camera on board too

SPECS
Display: 5.3" 800x1280 SuperAMOLED screen
CPU: 1.4Ghz Dual Core
Weight: 116g
Memory: 8GB Internal memory
Camera: 8 MP, autofocus, LED flash

I have purchased this phone/mini tablet now. My first impressions are that its a really big 'phone' but managable. You do need fairly big pockets though

The device has great built quality, a superb display, lightweight, and good battery life.
SPen works well but the little button is a bit fiddly to use

Its great to have a fast, portable computing device

Do you know what the chipset is? Is it an Exynos same as Galaxy S2 ?
Also, how do the apps look on this? Is it honeycomb styled or gingerbread?
Just wondering from a development point of view, since it is an awkward size, how the views scale on it.

I read that the Note has the same chipset as the S2 except clocked at 1.4ghz instead of 1.2
The O/S is Gingerbread 2.3.5
All apps I have tried so far seem to scale just fine. I will get around to testing my own app soon and see how things go

*UPDATE: I used these parameters in the layout manager, which seem to work fine

Portrait = 800x1280 Scale 2.0
Landscape = 1280x800 Scale 2.0

I see from the full specifications (Samsung GALAXY Note - Samsung Mobile) that it has "USB Host". Just like my Windows Mobile 5.0 Loox. But B4PPC doesn't handle USB, let alone host. Does B4Android allow anything to be done with it?

Mike.

Basic4android (and Android SDK) support USB host on Android 3.1 and above.

Default Using the S Pen

Hi All

Just a question for all you that are lucky enough to have the Galaxy Note, I have a client that's just called and asked can I add a sketch feature into our data collector using the s pen on the galaxy note phone.

The SPen SDK is available so I guess adding 'sketching' support should be possible. I have no idea how to write libraries though
