Default BlueStacks (Alpha version) Released

BlueStacks the software that allows to run Android apps on Windows has released an Alpha version.

It seems that it works on Win7 only, I tried to install it on a WinXP Pro SP3 machine and aborted the install.

I've been trying this program and seems to run fine, not all apps work as expected but overall is not bad.

Tried it on an Intel Core i5 Laptop with Win7 and the install aborts due to an error. Unfortunately the installer does not say what error.

Install errors seem to be most often related to microsoft security essentials enabled. I disabled and it installed fine, just not impressed with the product.

No problems here with installation.
Pre-selected applications are running fine.
As a developer, however, I'd appreciate possibility of loading local APKs.
Perhaps local files just need to be copied to a specific directory...

Here is the working method:

Create a shortcut of
C:/program files/Bluestacks/HD-ApkHandler.exe
to, say, your desktop.

Then drag an APK and drop it over the shortcut icon.

Great to see the apps on the PC screen.
Speed is sluggish, but my PC is not the fastest (CPU 1.6G) while BlueStacks is still Alpha, yet already working very well. Thumbs up to BlueStacks' developers!
Lot's of exciting potential out there.

This score goes to BlueStack. It plots my SkyAtlas star charts in apparently the same time as my phone. However, ListViews scroll reluctantly. There are still some childhood diseases, but after all, this looks promising.

The dependency on Facebook develops to a real pain in the neck, though.
