Default Trying to decide whether to buy...

Hey all, I'm looking at doing some programming for my Omnia and came across this site. I downloaded the trial version and am fairly impressed so was thinking about buying it. However, I have a couple of questions I thought I'd ask before doing so.

1. Is there really that much of a need to go with Enterprise over Basic? I'm not sure twice the price is worth 3 years of upgrades (vs. 1), but would like some advice about that.

2. Are there any major limitations with this program over others that might cause a problem for me in the future? Keep in mind that I'm not going to be making any majorly complex programs as much as just things I want to use.

3. When I created forms in the designer it seems like when I put in a screen size (240x400) it kept changing it to something smaller. That might just be because it's leaving room for menus, but it's important for my Omnia that I get the right resolution.

Thanks for any advice.
Matthew

Hi Matthew,

I will answer your last two questions:
2. Basic4ppc creates regular .Net executables. It uses the same compiler that Visual Studio uses. Basic4ppc can also run .Net code with the support for external libraries, so I believe that there are no major limitations.
3. The actual height dimension is decreased by 52 pixels to accommodate for the menu and title bar.

IMHO the answer to number 1 is easy - time flies by very, very quickly and each version upgrade gets better and better. So roughly twice the price for 3 years = bargain!
