Hi,

The recording function is done (just currently testing) and I'm using sqlite as a filestore backend.

I'm looking at the export thing, but will probably have to wait for a day or two (looks like a very bad fire day here tomorrow and hopefully our volunteer brigade won't be called out again).

The user interfaces needs a bit of work (once I've got the code finished, others who have a better eye for this maybe able to help). At the very least I've made it look like the other nice already existing screens.

Cheers.

M

You can replace the GPSDriver with agraham's GPSSerial library and then it will work on the desktop as well (note that on some devices the virtual serial port is less stable than working directly with the driver).
Edit: I replaced GPSDriver with agraham's GPSSerial library for testing on desktop.
Hey, and it works also. The first I did without asking for help.
I am just a might slow.

Hi,

Attached is the code for the GPS recording function and export to google earth KML format (for the sake of completeness I've added all the code, but I will need to keep better track next time to where I'm making changes).

You will need the SQL and KML libraries (KML is available in the forum).

On the record form the frequency is how often you save to the database. The lower the setting obviously the more accurate, but you will use more storage (I think google earth has limitations to how many points you can have with the free addition - I'm still looking into this some more). The description is a free text field to describe the recording.

When you press the start button, it disables the rest of the controls on the form. Only when you stop recording will it re-enable the controls on the form.

The start and finish date are used for deleting or exporting.

At this point in time export is ONLY done by Description or Start and Finish Date and not a combination of the two. More fancy searching can come later.

Feedback and suggestions on this addition and the user interface in particular would be appreciated.

Enjoy.

Cheers.

Hi

I own a MDA Pro, and use Bluetooth external. Did not have a problem with GPS4PPC newest version 2.0 on device, until today.

I hate to say this, but we needed to Hard Reset the device today !
Since then, the GPS4PPc does not work. The App starts OK, but no Data is received.
The gpsdriver.dll seems not to work ?
I use Port 8 on the Device. Tested Fugawi on device and this works.

Net 2.0 installed also on Device. What am I missing ? Can someone please tell me what Net version for the Device is needed.
Do I have the wrong Net version on device?
Can somebody help ??? What is the newest Net version for the device?

Edit: Problem solved. Used a MobileRegistryEditor, and made a slight change. Works again now!

Best regards.

William

Hi

Is it possible to get NMEA Data using the gpsdriver.dll ?
If I use the GPSDriverNMEA.dll then there are no problem getting the NMEA Data. Or, can I use both dlls in same App ?

I posted my Question here, instead of the Questions & Help Needed Section, Sorry !
My mistake. I would like to add NMEA Data to GPS4PPC v2.0 for Private use. Can that be done ?
Could I still get some help ?

Thank you for your help.

Best regards.

William

Yes, you should be able to use both GPSDriver and GPSDriverNMEA together.

Hello Mr. agraham

Nice hearing from you again. Sorry that our last communication chanel had not been so smooth.
I intend to forget, due to my sickness.

Thanks for your Answ. Sir.

Default Love the program - could I request a square form?

I love the program, but am too new of a user to modify the source for a square form for my treo pro (320x320 screen). Would it be easy for someone experienced to make a form/skin that would allow me to better utilize this program on my device?

I'm not familiar enough with open source hosting. I will look into it and see how it can be done. Advices will be appreciated.
Currently when you upload your changes please only upload the modified files (usually the source code).
I'm not sure that source control would meet all needs. (Though we could consider setting up a source-forge project, I suppose.)

My reasoning is that we have different interests. For instance no-one has mentioned that although some calculations result in nautical mile distances these are not allowed for in presentation. (So my version has added that - I am a yachtie!)

Also I am not interested in a recording function (I have an old water-proof Garmin GPS for that) but I am interested in having waypoint lists and a route list of successive "targets" and a GUI for manipulating these.

I would be happy to put my work back into the forum, but not in trying to conglomerate into one mighty chunk of source!

BTW Why does the lat/long option have "dd:mm:dd"? Surely this should be "dd:mm.mm" where the "mm.mm" is just minutes-of-arc to two decimal places? And why does the graphic key-pad have no ":" key if this is meant to be typed-in? (I am unsure about the GUI in this area.)

Mike.

There are places that use the format dd:mm:dd, which is similar to dd:mm:ss just that the last two digits are out of a hundred and not sixty.
The '.' key changes to ':' depending on the format you choose.
