Default Font change

I am trying to add japanese language to my Expense Tracker program, alfcen kindly sent me the text file translated to japanese and I am trying to display the japanese characters.
I also got the italian translation from filippo, but this one was easy to add.

My problem is that I need to change the font to MS Gothic to display the japanese characters.
I can do it on all labels and controls I have control on, but with system controls, like the MsgBox, I ditn't find how to do it, neither if it is possible.
Does there exit a function that allows to change the font of the device and of the desktop emulator that automatically changes the font of everything.

I have added a screenshot to show the somewhat exotic signs to us westerners. The visible text below the MsgBox is supposed to say 'Load last file at start-up, otherwise default file'.

Thank's in advance.

I think that the system fonts are declared somewhere in the registry.

Hello Klaus,

System Font is specified here:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\GDI\SYSFNT

Users with Japanese o/s will see the message box correctly, I have tested it.

When it comes to system messages, the resident o/s overrides the Japanese
character codes, and hits the wrong code because the table of charcaters is
much larger for Japanese, finally showing nothing but squares.
Likewise, your French o/s overrides Japanese for Hai and Iie with Oui and No
using Tahoma font.

You could try and set MS Gothic in the above registry. Even if it works, you
will need to set Tahoma again to return to French.

It is reasonable to assume that European language users would not install
that large MS Gothic font for a short exotic experience, while Japanese users
have it in ROM anyway.

The labels look fine

Hello Robert
I agree with you that European users would perhaps just try it once for fun.
But if there would have been a simple way to do it why not.

What happens on your computer and device, when you change to Japanese are the labels directly in Japanese or do you have to change something. I think that MS Gothic ore a similar sign set is default and not Tohama.

I will leave the japanese text file with the system and depending on your answer, I will change the labels or leave them as they are. I have for the moment changed just a few ones.

Thank's for the testing and Best regards.

Klaus

Hello Klaus,
Both my desktop and device are native Japanese, in that there is nothing
I need to adjust.
I humbly recommend to leave the option for those with Japanese o/s and
offer you my services as translater and tester. An option for Japanese
looks impressive in any case

Hello Robert
Thank you for your reply, I will join the Japanese file with the system without changing the font of the labels. That's the best way not to have any bad surprise and I wouldn't play with the registry.
Nochmals vielen Dank für Alles.

Hello derez
If I understood you well it seems also beeing a mess ?
But if you would like to make a translation in Hebrew dont hesitate, it's quite easy for me to add the possibility of another language in the program. The only thing that's needed is the translation of a text file and add a radio button in the program.
I am thinking about the Icon Editor I am writing these days which could be intersting for more people. But anyway it's up to you.
You can find the files in the Expesne Tracker thread. For the Icon Editor it's still a bit too early, there is still a lot to do and to test, and I also have new ideas I want to implement.

Best regards and a Happy New Year.
