Default Smartphones do not handle button control

"Error: Smartphones do not handle button control".

Just curious really as my app has compiled OK for PC and PDA which is what I really wanted but is there a workaround / alternative for this for Smartphones in case someone says to me "Hey great app - can it work on a Smartphone?"

The recommended design of Smartphones UI is to use menu items instead of buttons.
