Default COM Ports assignment

How can one know the "onBoard" hardware such as Bluetooth, Ir, etc, assigned COM ports?
I looked at the regetry but I cannot find the COM assigned to my IR...
Is it always the same on every device?
Can I "auto-detect" it?

Thanks EREL..
I did try to search the forum, but nothing cameback with InfraRed and it was impossible to search by "IR"...

One last question...
my device, using your example, returns "Ir on COM3"...
Is this a standart message?, can i use this string to search the name of the COM port?
Or should I make available an option to "search" and select the Port from a List?

I'm sorry but I'm not sure. Note that COM3 is the IR port of most devices (maybe all?).
