Default which icon editor on ppc is best?

hi all,

with the vacation ahead and enough free days to play with the ppc (and the kids of course...) I want to create some icons for my programs on the ppc. Which (free) editor would you advise?
Marc

Hi, I use "Bitmap to Icon" it is very good, you make a BMP and "B.T.I" it converts it to icon.
It is freeware.

RandomCoder, what do you say about creating an Icon Editor for the competition?
(Maybe it is a little bit too difficult)
Here is the file format: http://www.daubnet.com/formats/ICO.html

Hi Marc,

There shouldn't be much of them...
Take a look here (didn't testit) http://icons.en.softonic.com/pocket

The alternative way is to use a paint software and use later in your pc the converter of Leo's link.

Erel, I love the idea but when you say 'maybe it is a little too difficult' I think that you have under emphasised it, I'd have said its bloody hard
Hey but I'm up for the challenge so long as your going to show us what you can do too

I'm just sorry that I haven't done much with the competition since I suggested it, I'm going through a difficult time fighting for my kids at the moment. Having something like this is good for me because it takes my mind of things for a while.

Anyway, enough of my waffling on about my life, here's a few links that I've found regarding the Icon file format. Most of it is just the same as your link although put a slightly different way. I always find it's best to have several different peoples spin on things as it often helps to clarify the finer detail.

And attached is also a very detailed explanation of the Icon File (of which I couldn't be bothered to read it all).

And Stellaferox, just to keep you happy and not wanting to venture too far I've spent some time tonight trying to find a half decent Icon editor for the device and managed to come across this...

http://www.onhiatus.com/Software/Pike.html

I've downloaded it on my device and all appears to work as it should although I've not properly had time to play with it yet and you also need to download a run-time for it form here http://www.orbworks.com/wince/#Download

Hope its what you were after, and for the rest of us it gives us an idea of how it can be done.

Regards,
RandomCoder

Hi RandomCoder,

Thanks for your efforts. I have made an icon editor back in the old PSION days and depending on the features this is feasable. We can give a few guidelines as to how to approach the task for those that want to give it a try.....

......and RandomCoder, good luck with your fight, this is not what life should be like.....!!!

THANK YOU!!!!

This is my second time round, since their mum left and the court ordered that my kids stay with me 50% of the time.
Their mum has now moved out of the area and wants to change things so it's back to the courts again .
Your very right when you said this is not what life should be like.

Programming is my escape from reality, for a little while at least, its good for keeping my mind off things

PS. Check out the Forum Discussion for Competition details.

Regards,
RandomCoder.
