Hi all
I have two questions but firstly let me thank Klaus and all that have been involved in creating the Beginner's Guide it’s a real help for beginners like me.
I have created a pedometer type app that works fine on my galaxy s and am testing it on some friends phones but there is a problem on some of the phones, The accelerometer is disabled when the phone goes to standby (Screen timeout) this happens even with PartialLock activated I wonder if anyone could answer these two questions

Q1/ can I detect that the phone is gone to standby from a service(I have established that my services modules still run during standby)

Q2/ can I restart and read the accelerometer from a service while the phone is on standby

You can use PhoneEvents ScreenOn and ScreenOff events to find when the device goes to standby.

If the phone turns off the accelerometer sensor there is not much that you can do.

If I manage a work around, Ill post it. Would there be any interest on the forum for a thread (sticky) that identifies phones with various anomalies?

So, if screen is off - is accelerometer powered off for sure ?
No possibility to use accel in background all the time with the switched off screen ?

It is not documented whether the sensors will continue to function or not. You will need to test it (after acquiring a partial wake lock).

I've tested on LG P500 :-(
Accelerometer is off during the screen is off.
So partial lock does not help. Only KeepAlive, but it's not economically.
